Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) reported a positive operational performance through April 2025, with container throughput increasing by 1.5% compared to the same period in 2024.

The total volume handled reached 277,168 TEUs, up from 273,002 TEUs in the previous year.

This growth was largely driven by rising trade volumes between Indonesia and Shanghai, China, particularly in the non-oil and gas sector. The increased export and import activity highlights strengthening economic ties and mutually beneficial trade collaboration between the two regions.

From January to April 2025, TTL recorded export volumes to Shanghai at 8,454 TEUs, a 6% increase over the 7,968 TEUs recorded during the same period in 2024. Imports from Shanghai saw even more substantial growth, rising by 25% from 5,841 TEUs in 2024 to 7,320 TEUs in 2025.

These figures align with data from the East Java Provincial Statistics Agency, which reported that, as of March 2025, East Java’s non-oil and gas exports to China accounted for 14.39% of the province’s total exports. Meanwhile, imports from China represented 31.90% of East Java’s total import volume.

As part of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), TTL continues to invest in infrastructure and services to support the growth of international trade. Currently, the terminal is preparing two new container scanner units to assist the Customs inspection process, aiming to improve the speed and efficiency of international cargo handling.

To maintain customer satisfaction and operational excellence, TTL applies a robust planning and control system. This focus on performance optimization was reflected in April 2025, as container loading and unloading operations exceeded expectations.

The average Box Ship Hour (BSH) for international container vessels reached 47 boxes per hour, surpassing the target of 46 boxes per hour. Domestic vessels also performed well, averaging 25 boxes per hour against a target of 23.

These improvements in BSH have contributed to faster loading and unloading operations, reducing vessel port stay times and enhancing overall service efficiency.

Syaiful Anam, Corporate Secretary of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, reaffirmed the company’s dedication to delivering world-class terminal services.
