Tow Trucks on Standby to Prevent Port Gridlock at Tanjung Priok

In a concerted effort to keep traffic flowing smoothly in and around the Tanjung Priok Port area, the North Jakarta City Transportation Sub-agency, in coordination with Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, has ramped up preparations to manage potential congestion, particularly ahead of the long Eid al-Adha holiday.

As part of this initiative, tow trucks have been strategically deployed at key points known for traffic bottlenecks, including Gate/Post 1, Gate/Post 9, Jalan Mambo, Tanah Merdeka, Marunda Access, and Kramat Raya. These vehicles are on standby to quickly respond to any traffic disruptions caused by broken-down vehicles or illegal parking.

In addition to local resources, reinforcements have been mobilized from the Central and East Jakarta Transportation Sub-agencies, ensuring a robust operational response across the area.

To further support traffic control, large banners have been installed at congestion-prone locations, urging drivers not to park illegally. These visual reminders are aimed at curbing behavior that frequently contributes to gridlock near the port.

“This operation is part of our routine agenda, especially as we prepare for the increased traffic volume typically seen ahead of major holidays,” said a Transportation Sub-agency officer on duty. “Our goal is to maintain safe, smooth, and controlled traffic conditions throughout the port area.”

Executive General Manager of PT Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok, Yandri Trisaputra, expressed appreciation for the collaborative effort, emphasizing the importance of synergy between stakeholders.

“We’re grateful for the strong support from the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, especially the North Jakarta team,” Yandri said. “Their presence significantly boosts our joint efforts with KSOP, the police, and other agencies in ensuring that the evacuation of broken-down or illegally parked vehicles is swift and effective.”
