From January to July, MTI Regional 2 Surabaya handled 94,573 container boxes, more than double its 2025 target (RKAP) which is contracted to 46,474 boxes. The figure also marked a 117% increase year-on-year from 43,593 containers handled during the same period in 2024.

“This is a breakthrough achievement. We’ve already surpassed our full-year target of 79,670 boxes by July,” Antok Jatmiko, General Manager of MTI Regional 2, told Indonesia Shipping Gazette this morning (Friday, September 5, 2025).

Antok Jatmiko: “We’ve already surpassed our full-year target of 2025 by July.”

Based on the current pace, MTI estimates that CCDC 4 could process up to 150,000 containers by the end of the year, underscoring sustained growth in logistics activity at East Java’s main port hub.

Sea Toll Support and Top Customers Growth

The surge in throughput is closely linked to MTI’s involvement in the Indonesian government’s Sea Toll (Tol Laut) program, which aims to enhance connectivity between the country’s islands and reduce logistics costs.

In addition to handling commercial cargo which is mostly contributed by shipping lines such as PT Caraka Tirta Perkasa (CTP) and Icon Line, Sea Toll cargoes are on the top three in contribution to CCDC 4 Tanjung Perak.

The site also manages stripping of imported goods and the handling of empty containers.

“Our services are diversified. We cater to a wide range of logistics needs while actively supporting Sea Toll logistics to help bridge Indonesia’s maritime supply chain,” said Antok.

Situated on a 1.3-hectare site within the Tanjung Perak Port area, CCDC 4 has a container yard capacity of 2,443 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) and is equipped with two forklifts, one reach stacker, and seven head trucks. The yard occupancy rate currently stands at 75% to 80%, reflecting consistently high demand.

Sucahyo, Corporate Secretary of PT MTI, said the company’s Regional 2 logistics operations span key cities including Surabaya, Semarang, Makassar, Banjarmasin, Pontianak, Pantoloan, Nunukan, Ambon, and Bitung.

“The contribution of Regional 2 continues to grow in line with customer demand and national logistics expansion,” he said.
