Pelindo Multi Terminal Readies Ports for Christmas and New Year Holiday Surge

Indonesia’s state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), through its multipurpose terminal unit PT Pelindo Multi Terminal, said it has stepped up preparations across its ports to handle an expected surge in passenger and cargo traffic during the Christmas 2025 and New Year 2026 holiday period.

The company said all terminals under Pelindo Multi Terminal’s management are operating optimally, with a focus on safety, comfort and service reliability as year-end travel intensifies.

Operations Director Arif Rusman Yulianto said the company has reinforced personnel, facilities and operational procedures to anticipate congestion and ensure smooth port operations.

“We are ensuring that all operational elements are ready to support increased activity during the Christmas and New Year period,” Arif said. “This includes strengthening port personnel and facilities, enhancing standard operating procedures, and improving coordination with the Harbormaster and Port Authority, ship operators and other port stakeholders.”

Pelindo Multi Terminal is conducting inspections to ensure readiness and cleanliness at passenger terminals in Tanjung Emas, Lembar, Gresik, Tanjung Wangi, Bima, Sibolga, Tanjung Balai Karimun, Tanjungpinang, Parepare and Banjarmasin. The terminals are managed by the company’s Trisakti Branch in collaboration with PT Indonesia Kendaraan Terminal Tbk (IPCC), a Pelindo Multi Terminal subsidiary.

Facilities including departure lounges, arrival halls, passenger lanes, medical rooms, prayer and lactation rooms, fire safety equipment, customs inspection areas and disability-access facilities have been checked and confirmed to be in good condition, the company said.

An integrated Christmas and New Year transportation post has also been established in coordination with relevant agencies. Operating круглосуточно, the post will function as a monitoring and coordination center to ensure passenger safety and comfort.

Pelindo Multi Terminal said it is also coordinating closely with regional transportation authorities to anticipate extreme weather conditions that typically occur at the end of the year. Additional personnel have been deployed at high-traffic areas such as check-in and boarding points, while traffic management measures are being implemented to prevent disruptions to cargo handling activities.

Arif added that despite recent natural disasters affecting parts of Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra, the company remains committed to maintaining services at the Sibolga Passenger Terminal during the recovery period.
