Tanjung Priok Deploys Electric Prime Movers in Push for Greener Port

Indonesia’s state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Pelindo) has deployed seven electric prime movers at the New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1) in Tanjung Priok, marking a step toward greener and more efficient port operations, the company said on Tuesday.

The rollout of the Electronic Prime Movers (E-PM) was inaugurated at NPCT1 and attended by Pelindo Commercial Director Drajat Sulistyo, Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok Executive General Manager Yandri Trisaputra, NPCT1’s board and management, shareholders, and representatives from port authorities, customs and port police.

The launch event included presentations on the E-PM system, followed by a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony and an inspection of terminal operations.

Drajat said the implementation of E-PMs at NPCT1 represented an important milestone in the development of future-ready ports, adding that the use of electric equipment reflected Pelindo’s commitment to building smart and environmentally friendly port infrastructure.

“The implementation of E-PMs sets a benchmark for operational efficiency that can be replicated at other terminals,” Drajat said. “This initiative strengthens the competitiveness of national ports through the adoption of technology and more modern operational standards.”

Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok said the deployment forms part of its broader effort to strengthen sustainable, governance-based port operations, aimed at ensuring equipment readiness, maintaining service continuity and reducing the risk of operational disruptions amid high container traffic.
