PTP Nonpetikemas Banten Handles First Export of Wind Tower to Canada

PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) in Banten has handled its first export shipment of wind turbine towers to Canada, marking a milestone for Indonesia’s renewable energy manufacturing sector.

The cargo, owned by PT Kenertec Power System, was shipped via Pier 05A at Ciwandan Port in Banten in mid-February, the company said in a statement.

The shipment comprises wind tower components destined for use in a renewable energy project in Canada. The structures, classified as project cargo due to their oversized dimensions and heavy weight, required specialized handling and equipment during loading.

Andi Purwantoro, branch manager of PTP Nonpetikemas Banten said the operation involved coordination among port operators, shipping lines, customs authorities and other stakeholders.

“Handling project cargo such as wind towers requires detailed planning, specialized equipment and intensive coordination,” Andi said.

“We ensured that the process from receiving and stacking to vessel loading was conducted safely and efficiently.”

The loading operation was conducted under strict supervision using heavy-lift equipment to secure the cargo during handling, the company said.

PTP Nonpetikemas Banten handles dry bulk, liquid bulk and general cargo. Dry bulk commodities include wheat, coal, nickel ore, cement and gypsum, while liquid bulk cargo includes liquid asphalt, high-speed diesel, methanol and paraxylene. General cargo handled at the terminal includes heavy equipment and steel structures.
