National logistics and forwarding business players are optimistic with the sector’s readiness in handling the e-commerce market which is predicted to grow higher in 2022, but calling for creative efforts in optimizing the potencies.
Chairman of the Indonesian Logistics and Forwarders Association (ALFI/ILFA) Yukki Nugrahawan creative efforts can be done through optimizing online and offline or combining both.
“Surely, we (logistics business players) agree with optimism of national e-commerce. And, we (logistics business players) are ready to go with the change, to serve online market (e-commerce),” Yukki said in press statement this morning (Saturday, 27 November 2021).
Quoting data from the eConomy Sea report in 2020, he predicted that Indonesia’s digital economic growth would reach Rp. 1,736 trillion in 2025. Therefore, the eCommerce industry will become one of the driving forces of the digital economy in Indonesia.
Unfortunately, based on the report, Indonesia still lacks digital talents, one of the keys to digital transformation. This encourages the Government of Indonesia to continue to create these talents.
“All parties want something better and more efficient. I am sure that the logistics industry in 2022 will experience growth,” said Yukki.
Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs earlier said that the value of Indonesia’s digital economy was the largest in ASEAN in 2020. Even the Coordinating Ministry predicted that this year it would increase 49 percent from USD 47 billion to USD 70 billion.
“This growth is supported by the number of productive age in Indonesia and internet penetration which reaches 202.6 million or 76.8 percent. The Covid-19 pandemic has also accelerated the adaptation of digital technology on various lines,” Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto said in his remark speech for opening Indonesia Cyber Media Association (AMSI)’ Indonesia Digital Conference (IDC) 2021.
