TPK Koja Throughput and Revenue in H1 Exceeds the Target

Container terminal TPK Koja exceeds targets (RKA) both in throughput and revenue in first half (H1) 2024, thanks to the successful efficiency strategy and the increasing ship calls that help the terminal to enjoy more income.

According to the report released today (Monday, July 15, 2024), the terminal throughput in H1 (January-June 2024) reached 486,295 TEUs, a 10,99% higher than the target (RKA) of 438.142 TEUs.

The ad-hoc services which account to 35 calls during the period had provided significant contribution to the terminal throughput. The 35 calls contributed 91,639 TEUs in total.

The throughput also exceeded the throughput in the same period last year. It increased 6.29% year-on-year, from 457,519 TEUs, in H1 2023. The increasing of ad-hoc services, from 19 calls (25,976 TEUs) in H1 2023 to 35 calls (91,639 TEUs) in 2024 have triggered the volume growth during the semester.

TPK Koja also enjoyed increasing ship calls during the period which was higher than the target. The increasing ad-hoc services were due to no more windows at neighbour terminals that forced them to berth at TPK Koja.

The low punctuality of ship calls due to the congestion at Singapura and Shanghai Ports have caused vessels fail to get windows.

Revenue Up 13,76% YoY

The increasing throughput and better operational performance during the semester have helped TPK Koja to enjoy increasing revenue during the period. The terminal enjoyed 13,05% net revenue increase YoY. The higher exchange rate due to stronger dollar during the period have supported the terminal to enjoy higher revenue growth by 13.76%.

Such achievements have built optimism for the management to continue to enjoy positive performance in the second half (H2) of the year.

“The management will continue to improve efficiency and productivity to face the challenges and optimize opportunities in the future,” said TPK Koja Corporate Paulus Cahyandaru.

The Trend Continues to H2

Amid enjoying such achievement, TPK Koja realizes some challenges that might disturb the terminal operation in the future.

“We are still finishing the strengthening of the pier, potential congestion at the yard during the x-ray installation, and potential congestion the terminal access outside the terminal,” Paulus Cahyandaru, whom familiarly called Yoyok, explained.

However, TPK Koja is very optimistic the throughput in H2 will exceed the target as the improved performance will encourage more ship calls to come.

“We expect the throughput for 2024 will exceed the target as extra calls from the move from other terminals will be higher,” explained Yoyok.

Project Acceleration, Procurement of New Equipment

TPK Koja will accelerate the works of pier strengthening and new bollard installation so to support efficiency of stevedoring and loading/unloading activities.

The terminal also accelerates the installation of X-Ray facilities thus fastening the TRT (truck round time). In addition to those works, TPK Koja also plan to procure more facilities and equipment including RTG and massively run the digitalization and automatization programs.
