PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas), a subsidiary of Indonesia’s state-owned port operator, is stepping up efforts to revitalize logistics infrastructure at Jambi Port as part of a broader push to transform it into a strategic regional logistics hub.
The company has launched a series of infrastructure upgrades and service improvements aimed at enhancing efficiency and capacity, including the modernization of loading and unloading equipment, dock rehabilitation, and plans to develop a new liquid bulk terminal to support the region’s growing industrial base.
“We are committed to transforming Jambi Port into a modern and efficient logistics gateway,” said Dwi Rahmad Toto, Director of Commercial and Business Development at PTP Nonpetikemas.
“Through synergy with stakeholders, we believe Jambi has the potential to play a major role in the national logistics ecosystem,” he said further.
A key focus has been the revitalization of conveyor and dumping facilities, which now support handling capacities of up to 1,500 tons per hour. Repairs to the previously damaged ferrocement dock have also improved the safety and speed of port operations.
As part of its long-term infrastructure roadmap, PTP Nonpetikemas plans to develop a liquid bulk terminal on a 1.5-hectare site in Talang Duku. The terminal will be constructed in phases to meet the logistics demands of key industries in the region.
Parallel development efforts are underway at Muara Sabak Port, which is being positioned to support bulk and non-containerized cargo traffic from eastern Jambi.
Dialogue for Feedbacks
To reinforce collaboration and gather industry input, PTP Nonpetikemas hosted a stakeholder coffee morning on Thursday (Sept 18) at Jambi Port. The forum brought together regulators, port users, and industry associations for dialogue on improving logistics operations.

Capt. Prihartanta Eka Budi Jatmika, Head of the Class III Talang Duku Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP), welcomed the initiative and called for continued stakeholder support to restore Jambi Port’s role as a key logistics center.
“We appreciate PTP Nonpetikemas’s efforts to upgrade infrastructure and services,” Prihartanta said. “The success of this revitalization depends on the support and alignment of all stakeholders. A thriving Jambi Port is vital to regional economic growth.”
The event was attended by representatives from major logistics associations, including APBMI (stevedoring companies), INSA (shipowners), ISAA (shipping agencies), ALFI/ILFA (forwarders), and GAPKI, as well as over 20 cargo owners from various industry sectors.
The gathering served not just as a networking event but also as a forum to gather direct feedback from port users, identify new business opportunities, and align shared goals for Jambi’s logistics development.
