PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (SPJM), a subholding of state-owned port operator PT Pelabuhan Indonesia, has launched a pilot endorsement program in collaboration with Indonesia’s Directorate General of Sea Transportation (DJPL) to strengthen competency standards and improve pilotage services.
The three-day program, held from April 8 to 10 at the Indonesian Management and Logistics Center (PMLI) in Ciawi, Bogor, focused on the renewal and reactivation of Pilot Licenses (SIM), a mandatory certification for ship pilots operating in Indonesian waters.
Participants in the program were active pilots from PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim, which operates in the marine, equipment, port services, dredging and shipyard sectors.
The company said the endorsement initiative was conducted in five batches to improve the effectiveness of training and competency assessments, while allowing participants to undergo more focused evaluations.
Corporate Secretary of PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim said the program reflected the company’s commitment to maintaining safety standards and improving the quality of pilotage services.
The endorsement process also aimed to refresh pilots’ operational knowledge and align competencies with the latest maritime transportation regulations, the company said.
Through the program, SPJM expects its pilots to further improve professionalism and operational readiness while supporting safer, more efficient and competitive maritime transportation services in Indonesia.
