The support was demonstrated during a working visit by Tanjung Priok Port Authority Head Heru Susanto, JICT Director of Operations and Engineering Doni Budiono, and other JICT representatives to the SANY Port Machinery Industrial Park in Zhuhai, Guangdong Province, China.

The visit formed part of the technical due diligence process, factory acceptance test (FAT), and manufacturing readiness evaluation for JICT’s planned procurement of five Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs) and 10 electric terminal trucks.

The new equipment is expected to support JICT’s transition toward lower-emission operations while improving terminal productivity and operational efficiency.

Heru said the modernization of port infrastructure should address rising logistics demand while supporting environmental sustainability.

“The Port Authority supports initiatives that align with the modernization of Indonesia’s port sector,” Heru said. “Our role is to ensure that every transformation complies with safety, regulatory, and governance standards while contributing to better services and stronger national logistics competitiveness.”

He added that cooperation between regulators, terminal operators, and technology providers would be important in accelerating the adoption of modern port technologies in Indonesia.

Doni said the procurement is part of JICT’s long-term strategy to develop a more sustainable container terminal.

“The acquisition of Electric RTGCs and electric terminal trucks equipped with Battery Swap Station (BSS) technology is part of our broader operational transformation,” Doni said. “We aim to improve productivity and efficiency while supporting the decarbonization of Indonesia’s port sector.”

SANY Group Vice President Guoyuan Zhou said the company welcomed the Indonesian delegation and reaffirmed its commitment to supporting port electrification and digitalization.

“SANY appreciates JICT’s commitment to building a more modern and sustainable terminal,” Zhou said. “We look forward to supporting that transformation through technology that enhances operational efficiency and sustainability.”
