PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) Jambi Branch is strengthening its role in supporting logistics flows and commodity distribution in Jambi and surrounding areas, as it seeks to improve operational performance and services.
The multipurpose port, which handles dry bulk and general cargo, holds a strategic position in Sumatra’s supply chain, supported by its proximity to industrial hinterlands.
“We continue to drive improvements in operational performance and productivity to ensure smooth distribution of goods and provide the best service to our customers,” Romi Hasbeni, branch manager of PTP Nonpetikemas Jambi, said.
The Jambi branch handles a range of cargo, including dry bulk such as coal and clinker, as well as general cargo including construction materials and heavy equipment, supported by docks, yards and warehouses.
Throughput at the port reached 1.55 million tons/cubic meters in 2025, up 30% from 1.193 million tons/cubic meters a year earlier, reflecting increased logistics activity in the region.
Liquid bulk accounted for the largest share at 1.23 million tons, followed by bag cargo at 244,000 tons, dry bulk at 65,000 tons and general cargo at 11,000 tons.
Operational productivity also improved, with ton ship day (TSD) for dry bulk rising 14% year-on-year to 1,896 from 1,663, indicating more efficient cargo handling.
In the first quarter of 2026, throughput rose 3.81% to 388,700 tons/cubic meters from 374,400 tons/cubic meters in the same period last year.
Growth was driven by higher volumes of bag cargo, which increased to 72,900 tons/cubic meters from 48,300, and liquid bulk, which rose to 313,300 tons/cubic meters from 284,000.
“This positive performance reflects the growing trust of service users and strong synergy with stakeholders,” said Romi.
The branch operates two main areas, Talang Duku and Muara Sabak, both of which support regional logistics distribution. Facilities include multipurpose docks, stacking yards and warehouses, as well as equipment such as cranes, forklifts and conveyors.
Talang Duku port has a 281.9-metre dock and a stacking yard of 60,543 square metres, while Muara Sabak has a 100-metre dock and a 2,533-square-metre yard.
PTP Nonpetikemas Jambi said it would continue to improve service quality and operational efficiency to support logistics connectivity and regional economic growth.
