Pelindo and Pertamina EP Tie up Cooperation for Pilotage and Towage Services at CBM Bunyu Kaltara

State port operator PT Pelindo signed a strategic cooperation agreement with PT Pertamina EP Bunyu Field on pilotage and towage services at the Terminal for Self-Interest (TUKS) Conventional Buoy Mooring (CBM) Bunyu located in the waters of Bunyu Island, North Kalimantan Province.

The signing of the cooperation agreement which took place at Graha Elnusa, Jakarta, on Thursday (12/6/2025) was carried out by Executive Director Pelindo Regional 4, Abdul Azis who was accompanied by General Manager of Pelindo Regional 4 Tarakan, Amrullah, together with Senior Manager of Bunyu Field PT Pertamina EP, Despredi Akbar.

This cooperation is a real manifestation of synergy between the two strategic state owned corporates BUMNs in supporting the smooth operation of maritime operations and national energy distribution activities.

The pilotage and towage services at the CBM Bunyu location play a vital role in ensuring the safety and efficiency of loading and unloading activities, especially in the transportation of oil and gas production in the waters of North Kalimantan which have their own challenges in terms of navigation and geographical conditions.

Executive Director of Pelindo Regional 4, Abdul Azis said that the signing of this agreement is part of Pelindo’s commitment to providing professional and high-standard port services.

“This collaboration is a strategic step in supporting the smooth operation of Pertamina EP in the Bunyu area. Pelindo is ready to pilotage and towage services that prioritize aspects of shipping safety, time efficiency, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations,” said Abdul Azis.

He added that this collaboration also strengthens Pelindo’s presence in the North Kalimantan region in supporting the national oil and gas industry ecosystem.

Meanwhile, Senior Manager of Bunyu Field PT Pertamina EP, Despredi Akbar welcomed the synergy and emphasized the importance of Pelindo’s role as a partner in ensuring the smooth lifting and distribution of oil from CBM Bunyu to various destination areas.

“We appreciate Pelindo’s commitment and professionalism in supporting our operations. This collaboration is a form of synergy between BUMNs that provides added value not only for the company, but also for the country and society. Reliable pilotage and towage services are crucial for us considering the sensitivity and scale of oil and gas operations in Bunyu,” explained Despredi Akbar.
